Well, paper doesn’t need to be associated with plain and basic, especially if the end-result comes flying with all the colors of the sun! Just recently, the duo of Zim & Zou Lucie Thomas and Thibault Zimmermann are back with a new installment of their paper sculptures. These aren’t the boring crafts you and your sister used to make. They’re cut to the edge, assembled by hand, and flame-throws into the pedestal as if it calls for attention.
Featuring a blazing hot Phoenix, Zim and Zou’s new work is dubbed as Paper Rebirth. This project is meant to encourage proper recycling in Paris; that’s right, all the stuff used in making this papery animal is made out of recycled paper.
“The Phoenix was a perfect mythological animal to symbolize that paper can have up to 5 lives thanks to recycling,” the duo discloses. Zim and Zou,who works fondly with paper due to its “versatility and good quality,” has been creating lovely sculptures ranging from delicate objects to 3D illustrations.
